    SS Officer's Garrison Cap

    Hi All,

I'm looking at an SS officer's garrison cap. I know the cap itself is original, but any advice on the patches? Thanks.

        Wool looks bad as well
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

If you think this cap itself is original, even without the zig zag sewn fake insignia, which could only be attached when the cap was made, the base wool alone should send you running...I think you need some new SS headgear study material...no offense meant.

            This forum has plenty.

Sorry for saying but why do some people start collecting and yet cannot tell a difference between a bird and an elephant, there are beautiful reference books out there with very crisp pics showing very well how an original looks like and how to tell the difference, there are so many threads here at WAF with hundreds of pics showing original W-SS headgear

Well good thing I didn't buy it. The reason I said the cap was original was because I brought it to a militaria dealer and he told me the cap looked right. He said the wool and everything looked period etc. no joke. I'm not into collecting hats. I thought it looked suspicious. Thanks for the help everyone!

Beautiful example of officer grade doeskin wool on Mike's example.
