    WH Panzer Aufkärer overseas

    Original untouched Panzeraufklärer overseas cap.
Early style eagle, maker mark Mützenwerk 1 LAGO Cottbus 1942, nice size 58.
Outer cloth material is around 8mm open on the back of the upper center seam (see top of the cap photo). Super nice worn condition with the rare Aufklärer Soutach that is original sewn on to this cap!
If you look for one Panzer cap that has been there, this is one of the view out there and has no Russian markings. Directly found in Germany, never been on the market before.

At first glance I see three giveaways :

            -black lining
            -bad grommets
-maker identity LAGO often used by fakers

The overall look with non natural aging does confirm my opinion.

i think cockade and soutache are bad as well
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

Insignia is bad, known fakes, artificially aged.

Same with the soutache, and it is attached in a 99% wrong manner (under the rim instead of through slits), and artificially aged as well. There are a few period photos depicting the soutache mounted in this manner, but rarely seen.

If the markings are known fakes...nail in the coffin.

There are plenty of original panzer caps with black linings, so that is not a good indicator of fakes. Glenn Mc Innes has a very nice ID'd black lined Panzer officers overseas cap.

                        Panzer cap.

The first thing i noticed was the BAD stiching & the colour of the soutache,

Its a bad repo in my opion !!!

                        Cheers Mike
