Although the cover picture illustrates the use of the white overseas cap with the tropical uniform, looking inside the book it becomes evident that the M41 tropical peaked cap was by far the most commonly worn headgear (for enlisted men) on these U-boats.

As can be seen, the blue overseas cap was also seen, but I think it would be fair to say that the M41 tropical cap was 'de rigueur'.
