Heer Offz. visor in Kleiderkasse cardboard box

    Hi all,

I just got this Infantry visor in its original Kleiderkasse shipping box. I wanted to share it with you to get some opinions. Personaly Iam quite sure its a winner but since I dont collect visors and have not seen one with a black interior before I wanted to ask the forum for opinions.

The cap is virtually mint but has some moths nips here and there. Also the liner has 2 spots which seems to have been moth eaten. The insignia is Aluminium and the chincrod is late war cellon. It has a faint size #56 written into the inside of the bill. The cardboard box is named to a Leutnant Sperber from Nürnberg. The pics are not that good due to the flash so if you need any more just let me know.

    What are your thoughts ?

    Thanks, Jens

Thanks guys It looks 100 times better in hands...

The story goes that it was found 10 years after the war in a storage room of the post office because it was never picked up by the owner as he was KIA before he got home.

I would say that it is actually a last-ditch Erel. ZBV--can you see a hint of an Erel logo under the sweatdiamond? (they are very hard to see on these--you have to hold it to the light just right).

Also, can anyone tell when it was shipped as far as a date is concerned?

And it looks like it was sent from an OKK depot in Meissen to the Officer in Nuremburg?

I agree & this one (especially if the box bears a date of some kind) would be more proof that the late war Erel actually existed

              Awesome find!!! Kurt

                Hi all,

I just inspected the diamond in the light and there is absolutly no sign of a Logo at all, sorry. Also the shipping label dont bear a date. Yes, it was shipped from the depot in Meissen to his adress in Nuremberg.

                Bests Jens

Has to be an Erel--the wool body, shape, visor, and lining all scream M-45 Erel.

In any event, Erel had an Exclusive OKK contract with the Heer.

IMHO, this is the proof positive of the existence of the late-late war Erel.

zbv, look at the lining at the back of the cap near the rear quadrant mark.

There should be at least 2 numbers--one is the last digit for the size, the other a bench mark.

Not sure exactly were you mean but I looked at the far back were the top lining material meets the other liner from below and there seems to be some kind of marking. No real digit, more of a sign.
Further there seems to be a square piece of cloth or cardboard/paper in the far back and top forehead section that blends through the thin liner material. Not sure if you get an idea were I mean.

Pitty, it should be interesting to find out more about this Ltn and were he got KIA.

Again, you have a nose for great pieces and it's a pleasure to view them.

Yeah, it does have the features of the late war EREL outlined by Nick..
