M38 field cap with artillery soutache for review

First of all, I apologize for the photos. I did not realize until I uploaded them that they were out of focus. I had a disabled vet come to me and ask me to appraise his 'treasures' that he had. So far almost all have been fakes (he doesn't know this yet). I took a few photos and told him I would get back to him. What do you think? Thanks!

Sounds like somebody was already appraising and swapping out some items on him.

He claims to have bought all these items he brought in 'here and there'. He probably should have done his research BEFORE and not AFTER he bought them. This cap looks like a modern repro to me, am I correct? I think I'll wait until after Thanksgiving to break the news to him.

As far as I can see on the arty overseas you shouldn't be so quick to dismiss it that possibly more clear pictures would help. It looks like it could be a nice example.

Thanks for the remarks! So far, I've bought 3 items from this vet to help him out, but I still haven't told him that most of his badges are fakes. I'm going to move this to the e-stand if anyone is interested.
