Need help with Marke Odd Diplomatic Visor Cap

Hi, I bought this Marke Odd diplomatic visor cap many years ago, and would like some opinions about it. It was sold to me as authentic, but want to get the thumbs up from other members before I decide whether or not to sell it on the e-stand.

The eagle has obviously been damaged, and it looks as if perhaps someone attempted to repair the silver stitching, but did a very poor job of it.(?) Looking at the backside of the insignia, from inside the cap, it all looks good; the stitching does not go through the lining. The felt fabric on the cap is in good condition, with only 2 or 3 small, shallow areas of mothing.

Inside, it looks as if there may have been some moisture damage, as the leather sweatband has some dark spotting and there are some dark reddish-brown spots on the lining fabric. On the underside (back side) of the leather sweat band, there is obvious age and perhaps moisture damage as well. The old sponge piece at front has virtually disintegrated. The stitching looks correct to me.
There is an ink stamp on the back side of the leather near the visor. Looks like the number 100.

Any thoughts and opinions you can give me about this cap would be appreciated.
Please scroll for detailed photos. Thanks!

maker mark detail and close-up of eagle insignia. Looks like somebody may have tried to repair the stitching on the body of the eagle, but bungled the job.

I think the cap itself and the wreath may actually be good ones, but I don't even believe the eagle was original to begin with, never mind the mess its in now. The correct eagle for this cap should have a feldgrau backing...

Hat has a chance. Eagle cannot be original, as it could not possibly picked up that kind of wear without concurrent wear to the hat.

One thing that does bother me upon reflection is the two holes in the lining right where the prongs from a metal Heer eagle would have been...

Well, who knows, what was put on this cap as an eagle replacement before this bird came in place. The cap itself looks alright and consistent. So if there was a metal eagle originally, with black band and the silver piping, it could not have been a Heer cap. Only possibility would be WSS high officers then....

Except that it has a wool vs. velvet band...
