    LW Visor-Gen.Goering Help please

I only have one pic and no real description of this visor that is at a local auction today. I know it may be difficult but can anyone take a guess if this looks possibly OK. Need opinion in the next few hours. Of course I will seee it before bidding.
    Thanks, Bob.

To me it looks like it could possibly be a legitimate HG visor cap, though I have no idea what the red band is supposed to be. It's impossible, of course, to make any real determination from the photo. A lot would depend on the interiror of the cap and other factors. As a note, many of the HG regiment caps that I've seen were marked as such under the sweatband.
Let us know what happens !

Thanks Bill. I have some pics of real Goring ones from ruptured duck website to compare with and a real flight piped cap of my own. It is supposed to have a Gen. Goring mark inside it. Guess I'll see this evening. Will post pics if I decide to get it and get it..

Post pics if possible! It does look like an HG/GG visor but that red band is an odd addition.

You know, the weird thing is that perhaps the eagle that Bob posted for the other auction is the one off of the cap??? Not a good sign if it is.

            HI

Could the band be for a referee?. I had seen band on Army caps for kink of referee for war games?

It could be a band for an umpire of a training unit.

Sorry to disappoint everyone. I did not bid on this hat. While the outside looked good, there were several things about the inside I did not like. While it had a Lubenstein sweat shield, Liefyahr 1937 (my spelling here may be wrong) it did not appear to be anywhere near brittle so I thought it might be wrong. No traces of any orange stiffener material, inside was minty with no wear or staining to the top or sweatband, gen goring was stamped on the inside top lining of cap, very small and not in the sweatband. Did have green crosshatched visor and stitching of visor looked good. Could not bring myself to stay around for the bidding and felt better to be safe than sorry. Several real flags and daggers there but several repo items mixed in.

Well, thanks all for the comments. I might never know what I may have passed up but did not have that warm and fuzzy feeling about this one. Sorry you all will not get to comment on this one. I need to learn more about hats but there is so much to learn about awards.

Boy, your comments make me warm and fuzzy. Hard to say about it though. Depending upon what it sold for, it might be one that got away. The red band is intriguing. The insignia for whatever reason had obviously been removed.

I agree with Jack; methinks it may have been a keeper that got away. . .
