Real 'Hans Brandt' stamp?

Hello Guy's,

I saw on the forum that the Hans Brandt stamps are being faked a lot.

Can you help me out on this 11-42 dated cap, is this stamp original?

Hello Jim, I have copied below what I had added to another thread about this. Hopefully, here lies the answer to your question. The makers stamp which you show in post number 1 is an original for that maker in 1942,

Carl Halfar, was also one of the large scale makers of German tropical field caps from 1940 to 1942 esp. for the Heer. After the study of several veteran brought back examples of tropical caps by this maker. I can say with confidence, that they changed the stamp they placed in their tropical field caps so that there are three distinctly different maker stamps in their caps over the three year period of the war in Afrika. In fact, it is enough to make one wonder if Halfar had a different stamp for each year of their production going right back to the 1930's. There also appears to be a different stamp for each of their different factory locations.

Some of the other makers of tropical caps also changed their stamps, for reasons unknown. It is safe to assume many other makers of field caps using ink stamps changed the style and detail of their stamps, I would say most likely because one set of stamps became worn out and needed replacing. Plus in the process of ordering new stamps the firm that manufactured the ink stamp simply put the same information in a slightly different form or there are variations because of different makers of the stamps.
