    Chris,

I'd say this touches my field of interest so I will comment on your questions.

Officials of the Reichsbahn administration definitely wore Government Officials' uniforms and visors. Attached, you see a period portrait I just obtained and the gentleman in the photo is clearly wearing a Government Officials' uniform. On the reverse it says:
"Oberreichsbahnrat Wilhelm Kaune u. Frau Lore 1943."

Golden insignia were used by Officials in the Eastern Territories (RMBO) with the brown uniforms and the use on a blue one would indicate a Senior rank in my opinion. That said, I'd say it is possible to see such a visor being worn in the East (with and OST CT on the tunic) but it would neither be exclusively for Reichsbahn Officials nor the Eastern Territories.

If we turn to the visor itsself, I'd say that while it looks very attractive, the use of pinking shears that can be seen in one of the photos showing some of the lining was enough for me to not follow it any further after it appeared in the update....

Kurt, you are like Santa Klaus--is there no end to your magic bag of rarities?!

That is a fantastic portrait, and the first GO-DRB one I have seen...

PS--I agree about the pinking shears

stonemint, thanks for the kind words once again. I believe there are a lot of DRB Government Official's portraits out there not identified as such (sold as Diplo in many cases). Here is an example taken from page 117 of John R. Angolia, In The Service of the Reich, Bender: 1995:

Here is a photo I received today. Of course it might only be a member of the Administration Ost inspecting the railroad tracks but I'd say the context speaks for itself (needless to say this was offered as a Diplo photo)... Kurt
