          Story-telling at its lamest:

          http://www.ebay.com/itm/German-ww2-a...item20ce9e7c09

Up for auction a german SS officer`s black peak visor hat (Allgemaine uniform) from ww2 ,it`s made of black Doeskin or Tricot wool ,black velvet cap band, white pipings,it has silver twisted chin strap (which is a bit loose),original eagle and skull, and iside it still has the RZM label which indicates that the hat has been issued in 1940.it has wear and tear normal for its age (73 years !!) and the chinstrap is a bit loose other than that it looks well. According to its age it passed the blacklight test. The story of this hat is that is been in our family for a very long time along with other belongings of a german officer that has been stationed in my grandparents home around 1944 in Bucharest,Romania as we were Germany`s allies, and the law at that time was that the population had to help the country`s war effort by accommodating some of the german troops and officers,as my grandparents were very well off and owning a large and respectable house they got this officer and his servant in accomodation.one day he never showed up,him or his servant, whatever happend to him remains a mystery ,fact is that romania switched allegiances in august 1944 and him and germany became enemies to romania.my grandparents collected all his belongings in a trunk and store them away,i still have most of his stuff and i will probably auction them at some stage. Thanks for looking and Happy bidding !!!

Hmm, the seller only ships "uninsured"... That's a first (at least, for me it is): usually they state only insured... Now why would he do that
