    Artillery(?) Overseas Cap

I picked this up from one of my pickers this past week.

I have had a couple of my friends look at it and they both like the cap but one of them thinks it's Artillery.. and the other thinks the red is too dark and it might be something else.

    Anyone?

    Thanks in advance!

Nice looking artillery officers cap, just to note...the soutache appears to be hand sewn and mounted below where the original soutache was (notice the 3 loops just above the present soutache), but looks original to the cap and is possibly a wartime change in branch color. A change in waffenfarbe by a collector would not have left the evidence of an earlier soutache....where a soldier could care less.

I give it a thumbs up.

It's a textbook artillery officer sidecap.

Very nice,I used to own it's twin.

From hats I have seen from this maker the eagle is usually machine sewn across the top of the eagles wing, flipped over and finished by hand.

                Glenn and Lenny,

Nice, insightful information on this particular maker.

                LostDutchman,

Could you post a nice closeup of the grommet interior? Thanks,

                Richard

Thanks for the grommet photos. So it appears to be an outer brass vent grommet, with a steel or zinc inner ring?

                          Richard,

That would be my guess from looking at them.
