    strange SS NCO Schirmmutze

    Hi,
    i get this Schirmmütze.
The cap has not been changed since 45
Is this a cap which has been amended in the War of the Wehrmacht on SS?
The Color of Besatztuch is brown and black stripes is not entirely black.

"The cap has not been changed since 45 "

What makes you say this? For me, this cap wasn't in existence in 1945. It has what looks like a Clemens Wagner lining from a civil cap, sweatband from an East German cap of some sort, and a completely fabricated exterior...

                    Vibes,

In your first photo...when you see piping that is all wavy like a roller coaster...it is a very bad sign and usually indicates someone has taken previously used cap piping and used it to make a new cap. It almost always comes out wavy, while you find no originals with this condition....at least none I have ever seen.

I hope your seller honors his guarantee,

                    Richard

I should know better than to "never say never". I wish I could say diligent searching to make sure of the truthfulness of my post turned up this photo...but alas, I cannot. A kind and thoughtful fellow collector is letting me stick my own foot in my mouth, rather than booting me in the rear himself.

Self immolation is usually less painful than someone else lighting you on fire...I hope

I think what you're seeing above is a cap top that has gotten wet and shrunk, whereas the reed in the piping has kept it from shrinking, hence the wavyness. What you so often see on copies is where the piping actually gets thicker and thinner because of poor workmanship...
