No, I was too slow--it was another "guy from Arizona" (whose collection is much more advanced than mine). But on the other hand, I will be allowed visitation rights!

I see this logo and I always cringe. I remember Norbert (or whatever his name was) from N&T trading had a ton of these marked hats....with Reich's Addler and without. After seeing CAV/ART/PANZER all sell with this logo, then finding out they were all bad, makes me always concerned when these come up.

He had to have gotten them somewhere

The one one that was on the estand (which is now in the most advanced collection in the desert southwest) is a 100% original piece. It is the only one by Seilor that I have liked.

Does anyone else have any pics of any other Seilers, original, repro, or fake?

Searched the maker name Seiler and reviewed this thread: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ht=kurt+seiler Then popped over to this thread which appear to be the only references to the manufacturer. It would seem the preponderance of caps marked as such are bad even though a few are deemed good.

Where a few Seilers are perceived as good what are the characteristics of a good one? Why isn’t the manufacturer noted anywhere as a period maker?

The one below reflects a well pleated lining consistently affixed to the interior with an interesting pattern of stitching.

Kurt Seiler coastal artillery being (correctly) sold as a repro on the Black Cross site:

First I have seen with without a tradition badge? Adding a tradition badge seems the trademark of whoever produces these. J

That one certainly looks like the one I had my hands on to look at.

                        Rick:

It IS the one you 'had your hands on', as it is indeed the one I sent to you when we had undertook efforts aimed at some Horse Tradin'- "Texas Style!"

Although the KM Arty I consigned to BCMC is rather 'dangerous' (with original insignia, chinstrap buttons, AS WELL AS an original AND correct KM coastal artillery visor), I recalled this thread and never misrepresented the hat. It even had an original officer chinstrap, but that went into my 'grab bag' of spare parts/ insignia/ etc.

In hand, it is frightening how much work went into making the hat look 'original'; still, my honor and reputation can't be bought! (So, do I get an "atta boy", a pat on the back, or something of the sort?)

I thought it looked familiar and, indeed, you never “misrepresented it”.

My purpose for posting the interior shots here was to ask if there were, in fact, any originals of this maker (which some contend) or if all were post war fabrications.

Now, as to you “honor and reputation” Sir, as we’ve discussed at some length, I would never contest it due to A.] the fact that you Texans have a propensity towards dueling when your names are impugned, B.] you have a preference & fondness towards sabers thus, images of tripping over my entrails manifests itself in my mind were an argument to ensue between us, C.] you know where I live, D.] your membership in the Texas Bar Association means were I to survive such an argument/duel, being a weasely attorney you would likely sue my ass into bankruptcy and finally E.] you’ve never exhibited any behavior wherein I could ever question said “honor and reputation”.

As to you contention that we were involved in any Texas style “Horse Tradin”, I would clarify that, at most, we were discussing ponies - 13 hands perhaps - so lets not overstate your equestrian leanings.
