    SS White-Top....

....no, actually it's not, and wasn't even sold as such. Ben tipped me off to this on Ebay, and it was sold as a "pilots hat". Geiger was a big-time postwar maker of bundesmarine and Handelsmarine visors.

Note the interesting marking on the visor....

I don't know if they did make SS visors. They were around during the TR.

I guarantee we will see this one re-badged and missing its sweatdiamond in the future.

Just to be clear because I am still learning - you're saying this is not an SS cap and the visor with the stamp was added?

I was going to buy this one just to find out what the hell it is but the bidding went too high.

I thought it might be a removable top because the lining is so not in alignment but the seller said it wasn't removable.

No, it is not an SS visor cap. I have no idea what it was for. You can see the outline of some sort of stylized LW eagle.

It could possibly be a wartime or immediate postwar cap. However, I have no idea what it would be for.

Visor is original. I think it was just leftover stock.

Derek, if you read this, do you know if Geiger had an RZM #?

The other thing that put me off bidding a lot of money was the fact that either the sellers hands are freakishly huge or the cap is tiny, maybe some creation for a child!?

I wondered about that as well

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought it looks like a kid size cap.

Looks like it could have had the early 'generic' party/SA/SS eagle on it.

There was for my knowledge anyhow only one maker for white toped SS hats.

                              Chris,
                              Geiger had the licence A1/666.
