The insignia are original, Deschler skull and Zimmermann eagle. I can't comment on the cap.

Thx for comment, Ian Hulley. Are Deschler/Zimmermann a normal combination of insignia on SS-visors?

        I like this cap
IMO eagle looks more damaged than the skull.

Can we seen some shots under the sweatband?

Hi Steiner99. Any stretching or bending of the visors interior is not an option at this time, due to the risk of causing permanent damage/wear. I guess it should be possible to evaluate the visor without the sweatbands inside photos.

The cap is period but is it an SS cap or a Heer cap with a changed band. Is there exposed black thread just below the middle piping? It looks like u can see some threads just above the skull. Also one of the easiest ways to tell a conversion would be to look at the pasteboard. But that would involve looking behind the sweatband.

              Good Luck

There are no hard and fast rules regarding insignia combinations on Waffen-SS caps ... both are of a similar period, the eagle has more damage (as already said) but it's still original. Shame the pins broken but this pin type often pulls out of it's crimp if it's bent more than the once.

I can say this. Based on the lining material, color, weave along with the sweatband used I am 99% sure this is an Erel circa 1938-1940.
