    Celluloid "pasteboards" on TR Visors?

    Hi all,
it is out of my usual forestry or austro-hungarian collection field, so I need the help of the experts.

I got an officer´s cavalry visor cap today. By closer inspection I mentioned that the stiffening of the cap band is of nearly 1mm thick celluloid and not the usual paste-or cardboard.

Does this type of manufacture exist?

Unfortunately the maker´s celluloid is nearly completly missing.
The sweatband is a quite thick soft leather.

As I am no supporter I am not able to post pics.
But to all those interested send me a PM with Your e-mail address.

    Thanks!

    Best Regards
    Stefany

Sure. This has been seen on KM caps.
Are you sure it's not a resin material over cloth?

As per Kreiger, generally seen on KM visors.

        Hi Kreager,
it is no resin. It is transparent (with a slight yellow touch from ageing) and you can see the darkgreen cap band through it.
But Thank You for the info that this unusual form of stiffening existed.

        Regards
        Stefany

I have seen pasteboard made from cello on a TR period visor. In fact is was a Schellenberg owned by BenVK

IMO a original one ,the sweatband seems to be Schellenberg .

                            Hi Carlo,
                            Thank You for Your comment.
As the sweatshield is unfortunately missing ( and as I am no expert to the different maker details) I couldn´t say who produced it.
                            Many Thanks!
Can You say if it is an early, middle or late war production?

                            Best Regards
                            Stefany

Makes sense as the only other one I seen was a Schellenberg. Yes IMO a cood cap.
