    Unknown Visor Cap

    Hi All,
A friend of mine just purchased this. The cap itself looks identical to a Whermacht infantry officers cap, but the wreath and cockade is different from anyone I have ever seen. Adam is curious what branch this represents and how much it is worth. He is strating a collection and wants to know how he did for his first visor cap.

It an East German Officer cap. I think they use the same piping colors from ww2 so this should be Infantry (white)?.

          Sure?

          Guys,
I am definately no expert on Visors, dont really know much about them, but what stands out about it that says "East German." I am curious because other than the different wreath and cockade, it looks identical on the outside to my authentic WWII Infantry Officers Visor, I am pretty sure it is real because I bought it from Bill Shea. Adam is curious what it is worth if in fact it is an East German Visor. Also, I am wondering if it is possible that this is an orriginal cap that the East Germans used, because I have read that in the early years after the war, they used quite a bit of leftover WWII equipment, I ask this because there are marks where it appears that an eagle was cut off and that would account for the wreath and cockade being different.

Definitely Post ww2 construction. Visor looks plastic. and configures to all the post ww2 construction examples. 70's 80's most likely. Eagles are added for display reasons. If you look under the inside band current and post war pieces use foam as a padding..

            Hope this helps

                          Clarification

Guys, let me spell this out so there is no more confusion. Read the threads carefully. I did not buy this hat, a friend of mine did. This hat was NOT NOT NOT bought from Bill Shea. I have a beautiful WWII German Infantry officers cap that I DID buy from Bill Shea and I was saying that from my UNTRAINED perspective, they look very similar on the outside. My friend just wanted yalls opinion on this piece of worthlessness that he purchased.
FYI: I do my homework first, that is why the hats that I have came from the likes of Bill Shea. My friend just got taken on a cap that he bought from someone who IS NOT BILL SHEA

I am sorry your friend got "taken". Is there any chance he can get his money back? As far as selling it, I think Rob is being generous with the estimate of $30 tops, I doubt it would bring more than $20 or so: Ebay is flooded with those and in much better condition.
