Hi Sergey,
I prefer to see hand sewn eagle and cocade insignia with machine sewn soutache. Naturally, this is an officers custom tailored item, so anything is possible, but the construction techniques just make me not comfortable. I am sorry I can not articulate it any better, and these are just my opinions.

I think it has a chance. Could be privately taylored late in the war when oversea hats actually were replaced. But I know many veterans who always prefered the side cap in opposite to the M43. Artifical silk lining would also support this theorie.
