    M43 on e-stand

    Hi Guys,
I love this M43 that Frank is selling, but want the opinion of others. I don't own a Heer M43, and would love to add this one to my cap collection. Your comments are much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Bob F.

Original cap with post war re applied insignia you can see original thread where the factory applied insignia once was
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

With respect, Lenny, I am holding the cap in my hand right now and even with a magnifying glass I can't see any original insignia thread? The insignia is hand sewn but giving this cap the kiss of death and saying it was done post-war is perhaps unjust. If you can place an arrow or some mark where these threads are I would appreciate it. I recognize your knowledge base but I simply do not see any threads from a former insignia. -Frank

Lenny-I have looked at that stitch under magnification and it is not a holdover stitch from the original insignia. The extra stitch in question is actually UNDER the construction seam and north of the top seam. Respectfully I do not see how that stitch could possibly be part of the insignia sewing process. There is another flaw in the factory construction seam a few centimetres further down that same seam. If you could hold the cap in hand with a lupe I respectfully think you might agree.

i will respectfully disagree with you Frank, that would be part of the FACTORYS construction process pics to follow

a killer example of a factory applied insignia do you see what i am talking about now NOTE: the stitching of the insignia

I would have to go along with Lenny on this one. The original machine sewn insignia was removed and replaced with the hand sewn insignia.
No one can say exactly when but all indications would point to a post war application.
                Still a very nice cap.
