I have always preferred the cellulon piping and insignia. This hat leaves me feeling full of happiness and joy. Wonderful piece and I hope you are able to acquire it for your collection.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

I agree. I always wondered what happened to his beauty after Burmeister found it (I think it was a vet buy). I always thought it was the best WH General visor I had ever laid eyes upon.

If you score it, please post detailed pics!

Dear Stone, yes, as stated in the book, it is a direct veteran purchase. Unfortunately, I have no details in regard to the veteran. If I were to purchase it, I would have asked Jason about any details.

It is a later cap as there are no small hole perforations on the forehead area of the Stirnshutz sweatband, just the big ones. The early STIRNSHUTZ bands had different markings to this one, this is the later type embossed Stirnshutz stamp marking, whilst early ones had the DRGM number in the patent mark.

Hard to believe but it looks as if you've found an early Erel General Cap in absolutely new condition.
By the way; I have still space in my showcase...

                        Cheers Andi
