Hi Rove,
In my opinion, this is a wonderful example of an early issue panzer field cap. The insignia is original applied, but the original factory waffenfarbe looks to be removed and new waffenfarbe applied later. I cannot say if the waffenfarbe is wartime or not.
Thank you,
Curtiss
The problem for many viewers are the rivets, they appear to be new.
the soutache can be faded in my opinion. the effects are original, difficult to say when sewn

Hi Rove,
As for the rivits, I like the rivits. In my opinion, from the pictures, they look like early field gray rivits. I had a real nice black panzer cap with factory pink soutache (since traded ), which was very early (for black panzer caps), I think it was dated '40, which had the field gray grommets, and the insignia was regular dark green backed.
Thank you,
Curtiss
