Definately bad eagle, 3 pronged skull (which are 'questionable / controversial) and fake cap cords.

The fake eagle isn't the one normally found on these Alteste caps and will have M1/52 on the back. The usual one is the 3 round pin, unmarked Assmann type

From this pictures allone I would not give up an opinion if good or bad!
There are so many very, very good fakes around espacially from such high rank caps as this SS general.

Much more picture would be of advantage.

                    Cheers,

C'mon, Steiner, it is clearly an Alteste--the lining, the tinsel-type bullion, the 3-prong skull, the chincord. If a repro can be described as "textbook", this is a textbook Alteste!

Stonemint, the question is if the cap is good or bad and not what kind of marker.

You know what, I dont know why anyone bothers spending their money on any expensive SS , generals caps etc.. when they are will always be a question in your minds courtesy of WAF and other so called experts.
no matter how knowledgable you areyou can never be sure any more....these repros are becoming lethal now. far better to spend a few hundred on a fantastic copy that you KNOW is a copy, they are just the same, materials / insignis etc.. and you save thousands! Of course there are those not so interested in aesthetics, but MUST have the 'piece of history' in their collection.....yawn.
if in doubt, take my advise and just buy high quality fakes of the highest ranks.

citadel, you are for shure in right, but what makes it for a sense to collect repros?
Than I will better stop collection WW2. Just my opinion.

One of the reasons is that, for instance, the August Muellers are so well made, you can be sure that if they were sold 70 years ago in Germany they would have been accepted as a good quality item., and worn. If replicas can reach that level of quality, in my mind it is a better thing to look up at in the evening than something I had spent thousands on.
The same principle for RK's usw.. Of course many could never contemplate this.... but it does make me smile when these 'has to be original' snobs quietly sell on bazaar their post 45' caps.
