Herman Meyer cap is it legit??

Hey guys I came across this cap on my constant hunt for pz. gren items and I find myself unsure if its legit or not. I think the insignia is good but not sure about the rest of the cap. Additionally what is one if its legit worth in this condition? Matt

Hello Matt,

Odd, your hat seems to be my long lost twin of the one I posted earlier today except yours has gone a few rounds and came out a little battered. Definitely some repairs have been performed and chinstrap and neckflap are missing.

IMO, a good HM and as to price - hard to say - what price is being asked? If not too bad it could be a good filler until another one comes available so you can upgrade. Check various dealer sites for a hat in near similar condition so you have an estimate to begin the bartering.

Asking price is around 1500.... its not mine by any stretch just toying with the idea as I don't collect luft tropical stuff but have always liked these caps. Matt

Iv'e seen that one also out there. It's a beater. Would be a ball-buster to determine when the repairs transpired?

It has definitely been in an accident...and I think they saved on the repairs by using an Earl Scheib type restorer. If it's cheap enough, it will definitey take up space in the shape of a Meyer cap.
