Heer PzGren officer's cap by Pekuro

Sirs: Any red flags with this item? Although I understand Pekuro is a fairly commonly encountered maker, I have never owned an example.

Hi Mike, Out of curousity can you please check the size stamp on the SB and the Roman numerals on the side liner? The SB overlaps from the opposite direction and seems very long, as well as the front perferations are not centered. Was the SB resewn, looks to be at the visor area? this could explain the SB issues.

              Mike,

it seems like and odd duck. I love the look from the outside, but seems like the wreath doesn't really sit into the band, and its odd that the celluloid (think its called that so please don't kill me for it if im wrong headgear collectors) is a bit off. Im used to seeing them centered. Also seems to be a layer of black cloth that the SB is sewn to and there is a open stitch hole in the very front of the visor or two. One I would still like to have for sure as the outside components seem to be quite nice. Matt

                    Ben,

how much would that effect the value of a cap like this? Still a nice example. Matt

                      Tough question Matt.

Firstly, you have to ascertain whether the cap is all original and just has broken stitches in the visor/peak area due to age etc. A very common occurance.

If that's the case, for sure it might be worth a bit less than an untouched example but not a lot IMO.

If the whole sweatband is attached by poor stitching then you have to look at the whole enterior and start questioning what has happened here. It's a rare waffenfarbe so you can't rule out a rebuild.

The back of the SB isn't too clever either, it's a mess to be honest and worth checking out.

I hear ya there, think it would need a really good hands on inspection but I like it. Would like to add it if the stars should come together. Matt

The black material behind the sweatband is a unique feature found on most if not all Pekuro visors.

Pekuro had a specific style of stitching for the sweatband attachment. Perhaps some shots of the stitching on the SB would tell. Here is an example for comparison.

thanks for the info about the black band in Pekuro caps, honestly never knew that. Headgear has never been my main area of focus so learned something new today. What do you gents think of the cap? Matt
