Whats is that for a unit symbol attached to the Cap?

I found this pic in the www per accident. Its a quit nice pic showing a HT sniper rifle used by a Gebirgsjäger

The device represents a Gams which you can see in Kitzbühel an Austrian town very often. Maybe the GJ unit wearing the Gams on their caps came from austria ?
