How these things are classified by collectors is IMO subjective. I would call this an Alter Art or crusher with a variant pressed paper visor. IMO the criteria for determining what is and what is not a crusher cap is not decided based on the inclusion or not of a leather visor....at least that's my opinion.

I agree with Jacques that this one has some characteristics that I do not recall seeing at lest in this combination, but I think that it is original.

The visor is not actually Vulcan Fibre (IMO) but rather a type of pressed lamenated paper or cardboard......it can be rolled to some degree, but don't try it now after 70 years!

I am not providing an opinion about the originality of the visor. I cannot as I have never seen a visor with the different fabrics and combinations used for the cap body, sweatband, liner etc. The maker is also unknown to me which would explain this particular caps construction. So simply put, I have never seen a cap like this. Nothing in a bad way. Maybe some like Enorepap can enlighten me with regard to this cap. Jacques

Cap looks authentic to me with probably a period replaced sweatband. Take a look at the erel currently on the estand, a very similar style of replacment. Interesting maker as well and one I've not encountered before.

Incredible just how many TR era cap makers there were. We see new one appear almost every month.

Yes i checked there are 5 small holes the size of a needle not in the middle but on the left take a look!

I like the cap too. The sweatband in interesting. That is the type used by the Russian army during WWII. Replaced by a local cap maker during the Russian campaign?
