    Unidentified M43 Cap

    Good morning
Attached are a couple of pictures of a cap that was offered by a French restitant to my grand father in August/Sep 1944 following the battle for Annemasse.
It seems to be a heer M43 cap but I find three things intringing :
    - eagle facing his right
    - dark green piping (same color as the background of the eagle)
    - one button.
Any idea what unit it can come from ? I couldn't figure out from the various stories I read about the period. I also attach a picture of the same (?) unit crossing the Swiss border on August 18, 1944 (Coll Genet in M. Germain Le prix de la liberté)
Any help in identifying the unit of the bearer of the cap would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks and happy holidays season for all.

    Hello,

It could be a customs official's bergmütze. I have spotted one with the same kind of botton but in gabardine cloth.

        Hello,
green piping and shape of insignia indicates that it is Zoll (Customs) Beamte Bergmutze (Mountain Cap) – similar to this one:

Well, infact I've got this book: Les Coiffures Militaires du Troisieme Reich, by Richard du Fillippi, I had a quick look and spotted a similar one. It is not my field but books do help.

It is indeed a very nice Bergmütze from a Zollbeamte. I would like to see some interior shots if possible.

Thanks Michael, Billbert, Sander and Carles for your kind help.
Billbert - there is no orange quilted liner but a full leather sweatband. No maker mark nor size (quite small)
Sander, here is a picture of the interior (see grayish color).
              Best regards
