    Tropical cap makers ?

    Hello All

Would like to have a list of all excepted tropical makers. No need to post photos, so that the list does not help the fakers. But perhaps just the names ? Curious as to how many there actually are ? Anyones help will be appreciated....

Just a few to start the ball rolling,,,
Halfar, Weissbach, Wagner, Lubstein, Kubach, Brandt & LAGO. Not in any type of order, but if someone wants to list them by year please feel free to do so. Perhaps the first six would be a good start.

Schlesich, Grilling & Co, Gustav Thomas, Ernst Kern, Vorwerk & Sohn, Alfred Valet, Bayer Mutzen Fabrik, Mutzen-Haussler off the top of my head. More to come.

thought i seen a( Frankenstein) marked trop cap
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

                Hi Lenny

Thanks also. But thought the stamp with Frankenstein is the location for the Schlesich maker ? These were very popular with the troops as they faded quicker than many other makers.

You're both right; Schlesiche Muetzenfabrik Frankenstein: Silesian Cap Factory Frankenstein.

Schlesische Mutzenfabrik Frankenstein made many caps in tan which are the ones that fade easily. Most caps will fade with plenty of wear, especially in the sun, but the tan caps (like the tan tunics) will fade to a bone white with or without the help of bleaching agents. I have 3 examples by this maker, one in tan and the others in olive green. I'm sure that you will find that the majority of the Afrikakorps "aged" caps were by this maker.
Of course this isn't the only maker to manufacture tan caps, but they did make a significant number.

I like the way this thread is going Tim. No photos required and no features of the different makers discussed (well apart from what I've said).

Yes agree, no need to discuss the different makers or any photos either but its good to see how many different makers there really were. Up to 30 now.

Thanks to Everyone that has posted so far...
