    Veterans visors Kyffhauserbund

    I have a question related to Veterans visors of the Kyffhauserbund...

    I own several veterans caps including the Kyffhauserbund cap with the black cap band showing swastikas alternating with the memorial.
    A TR pattern obviously. My example also posted for comparison!

    Here is my question;

    What about this pattern? Is it a post war West German variant?
    Besides the Swastika version, this variant is also listed in Angolias book covering Headgear of the TR (volume 2)....
    So I'm confused...
    is it also period? a variant? I doubt its pre TR based on the constrcution!

    On the cap band it shows the Iron cross (Maltese cross) instead of Swastikas...
    This particular example has its cap wreath mounted too high btw....
    When it comes up for sale I always see this pattern listed in the ww2 section but I have my doubts...
    (but I'm still hanging on to mine)

    Next Kyffhauser question concerns this cap badge + wreath, which I found on the web...
    Its a variant that I am not familiar with... I would have to check Angolia's book...
    Anybody familiar with this cap badge example?
    Because of the wreath incorporated in the design I have no doubt that its worn low on the cap band!
    (not a crown badge)

    Is it pre third Reich?
    Perhaps 1920's or early 1930's?

    Just wondering!

      Nick, I can not answer your question 100 %, but will show this cap. It has a hand inked name on the sweatband Georg Schonauder.The badge appears to be on the hat forever. The under the hood shot shows no other holes on the band. I see no other holes behind the band. I hope these Pictures help. PS sent you a couple of emails. Pete

              I agree--it is for the postwar Kyffhauserbund, sorry Nick.

              As far as the Kyffhauser fluted-badge, I have yet to see a period pic of it worn on the visor--it is commonly seen on the armband but who knows--these vet organisations flaunted every rule in the textbook.

                  Regarding the badge, it is indeed not officially a cap badge! Meant to be worn on a Veterans armband! but like Stonemint commented those veterans did al kinds of stuff mixing badges etc... It appearing on a cap is definitely a possibility. Very interesting!

                    I also think the vets pretty much wore what they wanted. Here are my 3 vets hats, all the same, yet different. Different badges, and even the eagles are slightly different.

                        do you have a picture of the interior of the first cap?
                        What material is the chinstrap made off?

                        maybe then we can see if its pre war or postwar.

                            The chinstrap looks like its plastic and the sweat diamond as well...
                            Here a comparison with my war time one! I'm pretty convinced now its postwar.
                            A similar cap btw sold on ebay Deutschland for under 30E...
