I'm gonna take you guy's advice and pass on it. I just have one more question. I'm looking closer at this eagle now and the edges are still silvered, which must have been the original color. I think I was looking at the layers in reverse. Could it have been silver, having grey primer in the middle, and then the brassy looking color the base metal?

My main concern is with the sweat shield. First, it looks too minty - no clouding, nothing. Second is the maker's mark - I've never seen an army cap with a swastika on it. If it's a fake, it is a pretty well-done job.

        Hi

I do not want to stir controversy but I like the exterior of the cap. The quality of the wool and pippin is as good as my Pekuro medical cap. The eagle and the sweatband may had been replaced. I refuse to thing that a faker will made up a logo like the one in this cap.

Is this is a repo I may not collect visor caps anymore.

        Regards
        Juan

Jaun, after 30 years as a collector, nothing about the fakers surprises me.

To me the sweatshield made me think that it was an earlier reproduction, as though the creator was trying to assure the buyer "Yes, I AM really a nazi cap!"

Dave's opinion is one that I would give great weight to.

If you want original visors, there are some very good sources about who you would not need to worry.

            Hi to all,
this cap`s eagle is a very worn political eagle (army one most probaly removed origionally to de-nazify the hat) The cap from the pictures looks pretty O.K. but as already stated that is a very strange eagle to have in a service cap

I called the guy today and offered $100 for the cap. He declined.

So I guess it will stay on his shelf!!
