    WSS with grommets

Ok I know this discussion has been had ad infinitum but whilst looking at the odd heer M43 trap cap detailed on another thread I also quickly looked over another feld grau M43 the seller had. Deep breath here - it had a green WSS trap which looked factory applied plus some very faint interior marking- but it also had the dreaded grommets.

Now I know this is very much a bad sign but are there any accepted original EM WSS M43s with grommets? The only reason Im enquiring is the quality of the trap application as it looked as good as definite factory stitching. I wouldnt buy the cap because its not in my current comfort zone but it begs the question.......

How well can the factory applied stitching on insignia be copied on non TR period caps?

If it was NOT a bergmutze and not an m42 conversion I would be more inclined to take a hard look at a W/ss cap than an army one...Billbert

        Hello piw,

go to the SS Section and do a search for a thread titled "A Nice Wallonie Image"

In that thread you will find images of SS M43 caps with grommets being worn at a unit level. Would appear from this that those SS troops in that part of the world were being issued such caps later in the war.

Please add your thoughts to that thread and let us know what you think about those ones,

        Chris

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.
