Yes, but that merely means that (if there is a number) it can be anywhere on the cap, even in the most centered or eccentric position.

So a centered number will never dismiss a cap with me.

Surely the original with centered digit would be nice addition

Looks like that was a mine. I've traded it approx 2-3 years ago to the guy in Germany, due I got one in better condition, and late type with side grommets. If it is this cap, I got it from Kurische Neirung- Memelland.
