Soutache attachment to OS caps - how was this done????

    Hi there,

I have been looking for a nice officer's OS-cap with a soutache for a while now. These are frequently offered but I never like the way the soutache is attached to the cap. I never come accross one with the soutache attached to the cap in such a way that it is stiched at the bottom with the original seem stiching. If done so you can tell that the cap and the soutache were made and attached in the factory at the same time. Most OS-caps on offer have a seperately applied soutache that does not use the original seems of the cap for attachment. Am I correct in assuming that when this is so, the soutache was attached later to the cap than that it the cap itself was fabricated and therefore these caps are not untouched originals but had a soutache added to them after WWII? Informed opinions are very much appreciated.

    Cheers, W

not always the case plenty of originals where the bottom stiching does not run over the soutach that are original to the cap
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.
