Black trap on feld grau M43 cap

Does anyone have an M43 example of a black trap - either heer or waffen ss - on a feld grau cap? Ive seen a few in old threads but looking for further examples!

Period photos or exsistant examples would be great.

    Many thanks.

In Heer livery it would be a new one to see and to me...there are for sure late war ss feild grey m43s with the embroidered dachau pirate style insignia..Some say most of them turn up issued to ss a french volunteer unit.. Billbert

Have seen foto/ complete cap/ and a rare period m43 cap cutoff of this style...

Thanks Billbert for quick response - two reasons Im asking is Ive seen a number of M43 WSS caps with black trap and am considering a purchase but really wanted to see more examples before spending any hard earned. Ive also been offered locally a private purchase heer officers M43 with what looks like a black/very dark green outlined eagle on a paler green trap. Its not like anything ive seen before - the trap stitching looks factory applied but Im very wary of its originality. Hope to get some good photos shortly.

I know of 2 green W-SS Dachau types in collections with black trapazoid, originally applied.

Have never seen or heard of a green factory produced Heer M43 hat with black Panzer trapazoid (Bergmutze type, dark bottle green folded as a trap, yes) before but if one exists it would be a treat to see.

I do recall seeing a period photo of a black Panzer Heer M43 hat being worn with a standard green type trap.

Great photo - thank you Glenn. Is that a dachua variant cap in the photo?

If so I assume the feld grau dachua versions have the black trap sewn on in the usual zig zag factory stitching fashion?

Yes,exposed cardboard visor...And yes, both of the black traps are zig zag sewn (but I have seen them with straight machine stitching as well on Dachau types)

Thanks again Glenn - that is interesting as there are two non dachua versions being sold on dealers sites at the moment.......... seems people have thir doubts with this type of cap.

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

Thats another useful photo Lenny do you have any of the rest of the cap?- is the feld grau Dachua version (with either colour trap) more less/common than the black panzer versions?

                        Apologies for all the questions!

                        Cheers

                            Hello,

Some green waffen-ss cap were manufactured with black PZ bevo trap
(not only with "pirate" Dachau trap.)
Here a very nice one made with Italian gabardine :
                            http://www.relichunter.com/wssm43.jpg
If my memory is correct, a period pic of a french volunteer show a classic
wool cap with black bevo trap.

About the heer cap and the very dark, almost black trap, I think you speak about this type :
                            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...1&postcount=68

A foreign production IMO,but perfectly fine.
You will find a great discussion about those in the forum, and most of
the collector's accept them like guenine, except Mr BN Singer...

Here a period pic of this cap worn:
