Yes I agree, those two gentlemen are the experts on these caps. And the bird was the main concern I had also.

Hi, the general view and construction look OK, but there are some details (visor, edge and back, sweatband, lining, ...) that make me feel not confortable with it. I would say that this one is a post-war cap and not a WW2 original one, anyway for sure if it was period it would be a foreing made one, the visor backing remember me some french caps but it's different to those and the other details of the construction don't match with a french made cap.

About ther badges, is not the main thing to see if you like it, they could be changed in any cap.

Other point is that there is an identical one for sell on a dealers for a while now that has not liked me for the same reasons.

The construction of this cap doesn't have certain features that I would want to see on an officer's cap.

Another forum member who has been around the block with KM items is Ron (Gebirgsjäger).

                        Thanks everyone,

This one almost had me fooled. But there were two red flags that made me suspicious. #1 Bargain priced, #2 "Fat Eagle", and thing that were spotted by some knowledgeable members here. Thanks again everyone.

Yes Lee, I would agree with you completely. Spending much of my spare time hunting kaiserliche marine items but like to pop in on you guys from time to time :-)
I would like to know how he came up with that correct chinstrap though. I'd say a very early bunds cap

Edging around visor incorrect. Space between leaf and edge too far .. Could easily fool a novice no doubt in my mind

That was an immediate tipoff for me as well. I'd say early postwar too.
