m41? So this is a Luftwaffe cap then, or Kriegsmarine?
If Heer, then surely you meant m40....?
I'd like to see the rest of the cap so we can spot the cap for future reference.
            Regards,
            Mark.

No harm in being more accurate...or should we be calling m43 caps m44's?
                Best Regards,

                  Mark,

those look to be steel grommets, I would like to see the rest of the cap before I say more because they did use the steel type in KM tropical billed caps the very late 42 & 43 WH sometimes maker named but more often RB numbered examples,

                  Chris

Very true, Chris - which is why I'd like to see more before making a judgement...
                    Regards!

                      Hi Lothringen,
Are we likely to see more images of this cap? If based solely on this one photograph I would not tell your friend to put it in a furnace just yet...

As has been said, more pics are needed before completely writing this cap off.

I am being patient. The important thing is that the cap not be destroyed (or otherwise) until more facts are known....
