Waffen-SS Visor Cap - Authentication Needed.

    Hi all,

I need some help on this visor, it seems the dealer is not up with his photoshop skills and has had to resort to putting a red sticker over the Totenkopf... (ive requested pics without this from the dealer).

It doesnt seem to have any indentation where the cap eagle would have been....but this still looks like the right material...yes?

Ive seen so many SS visor caps being offered for 6k+...... are there any good condition ones out there cheaper than that?

    Here are the pics:

I don't remember the dealer, but i believe a SS officers visor was offered for 5450$ a while ago. I believe there was some writing inside it for a movie company after the war?

          Hallo max

The lining appears to be from Hans Petry of Oberstein.
In this case, an uncommon maker

So its definitely the real deal.....and what you would call rarer than normal due to the maker not being a common one...very nice...!!!

What would a replacement eagle cost to make the cap complete..?...I am considering buying this one.

            Cheers.

I know I wouldn't be so quick to pull the trigger on this cap.
              1. You have a SB that tells us this cap should have the Stirndruckfrei system in place, but where is it? Yup Not there. The SB reminds me of a classic Pekuro design but it's obviously not in a Pekuro cap, things that make you MMMMM (like the song from the 80's)
              2. Even though we have seen this type of "overlaped" piping joint, I'm still not fond of it. This is a trait often seen on fakes.
              3. We have a not so common maker cap, and the one and only time we see this maker it just happens to be an SS cap. Guess it could happen.
              4. I wish we could see a pic of the underside of the SB at the back near the silk tie, to see if the classic Pekuro size stamp is there. I have a feeling it is. To go along with my SB theory
              5. Also there seems to be odd punctures along the piping, have a look you will see them.
              6. How come the price is so cheap? Maybe they want to move it fast to an unsuspecting new to collecting collector.

These are all my own opinions, I hope they help.

              Matt

How much would you think this is worth even without the Adler...?

I will ask the dealer for more pics and post tonight....

                thanks again for the feedback.

Max, If you are asking me, I wouldn't want this cap. Way to many questions for my liking. Please don't get sucked into the price thing, look at the cap as what it is.

Yeah, I know what your saying... Better to be certain and have 100% of the boxes ticked before outlaying that kind of money...

Its a pain trying to find a reasonably priced one... Its crazy that they are going for more than some SS tunics.....

Ive already jumped the gun on a Navy Cap that wasnt what it was claimed to be, but I thankfully returned it for full refund.....So I am less inclined to buy now without getting alot of expert feedback...

I am in Australia, so a hand inspection is impossible.....although I am heading back to Europe again next year (could be ideal).

I have requested more pics of the internal workmanship - under the liner etc... from the dealer...I will post once he has sent them to me.

He also said he is close to getting the Adler for this cap... 500 Euro...

Either way, I would complete it myself anyway if I end up buying.

I like it because its unusual. Its got rayon piping of the type used on shoulder boards, which I've rarely seen on original caps, but never seen on a fake. I think with a nice set of original insignia it will be a killer!

GIsle, you seem to be the expert of these.....you have enough of them

What is odd about it in particular...? Anything that stands out as being fake or a definite leave it and move on...?

                              Cheers.
