Hello,

I've bought this "Bordmütze" and i would have you opinions about it.

Deep navy 'blue" (much black than deep blue!) wool rayon construction.
The interior of the cap is fully lined in black rayon.
The lining is marked with a size white inkstamp "59". Excellent condition. Some moth holes.

Why would they wear a black overseas cap instead of a dark blue cap?

I have seen the same marking inside a Waffen-SS panzer overseas cap. Is this possible they gave out surplus panzer caps to the naval NCOs?

Bob, I have seen these in blue and black, same construction, same badges and same stamps. IMO 100% KM, some small stocks of blck cloth used to made KM caps. When I see one of this with the SS or LW badges I always feel that is a remade cap. In these KM caps, blue or black, the cocarde is always factory machine stitchs, and in all LW and SS caps of this style that I have seen all badges are hand made.
