    Generals Cap

Now Ben I just bet you watch Ghost Hunters buddy, but I simply did not see Elvis at the supermarket! All kidding aside, I cannot find anything in hand that looks like a bullion birdie was there but Ben I do understand from the photos what you are probably seeing. There is some dust build around the bird area on the cap, nothing amazing but could possibly make a shadow appear in pictures anyway. Thank you Ben, certaintly Nick, and everyone else for your learned opinions, they are all very much appreciated. Regards, Howard

The hat is original. The insignia are original. But, these insignia may not have been attached to this hat in 1945...

        Hi,

The piping is in gold celleon while the chin chord is in bullion, so one will age, the other will not. Some like the way that looks, some don't.

I'm not proficient in my metal insignia (all my stuff is officer rank, all bullion), but the rest of the cap is certainly good.

Ben - I don't see the imprint of a stitched eagle that you're seeing. I would think we'd be able to see the remnants of the stitching and the footprint...but with these wool tops - especially with a doeskin finish like this - one can easily cover up minor moth nips and tracking if one knows what they're doing. Perhaps the same would apply with stitching marks. I would also think that a bullion eagle present for 65 years would leave more of an imprint, but this is not an exact science. If there is something there, and I just can't see it, I'd like to commend you on your eagle eyes!

        Best,

        Jason

            Still?!

I've been fortunate enough to have 20/20 vision my whole life. Some of my friends have gotten laser eye surgery - now they can see clearer than I can!

It is one of the few originals that exist in a sea of fakes and Frankensteins.

Congratulations, Howard, on finding a good one. I would love it as mush as you do.
