    Sweatband Stitching

    Hey guys,

Have a gander at this sweatband. You'll notice vertical (or perpendicular) stitching framing the perforation holes in the forehead area. I've not seen these before.

Stitching looks good to me...but wanted to get some feedback here from some of the more experienced guys. I don't typically see this additional stitching on sweatbands.

I'm also wondering what this was for. Was it potentially a pre-emptive measure to allow for a partial replacement of the sweatband after conspicuous wear?

Yes, everything looks good. What is going on behind the sweatband, Jason? Does the stitching hold the orange sizing in place or other padding, etc?

        Hi Brian,

Most caps I see don't have this additional stitching in the sweatband, so I can't imagine it's there to help contain any internal cushion or padding. I had tossed out a random idea that perhaps it was an option to allow for partial replacement of a soiled sweatband - although nobody has been able to confirm or refute that idea, or offer any other options.

I am still unsure as to its purpose. It's Erel's top of the line model, so I'd assume it would have some additional, yet luxury, function.

That said, in addition to posting the photo here, I sought out a couple of advanced collectors to get their opinions as well. The concensus is the stitching looks correct. So I guess it remains unsolved for the time being.

This particular cap has the internal ring from the factory underneath the sweatband (for the vented cockade), although the bullion cockade itself is not vented in this example.
