It is a known fact that they used this fabric in real hats and tunic and in fake hats and fake tunics.

That's true of course but there is a discrimination against M43 caps with HBT linings in particular and they all tend to get tarnished with the same brush.
How and when this discrimination began, I'm not entirely sure.
