It looks promising. The eagle is the very first model.
But more fotos are needed to be sure about the cap.

NOTHING normal about the cap for a factory made item..possiblity early tailored.. at first I thought the eagle was a new fake BUT imo eagle is good..possibly the foto but not as excited about the cockade.. Billbert

MIGHT BE GOOD BAD AND UGLY ....

As usual Billbert is on to it.

Based on computer images this Panzer sidecap looks to be a tailor made product typical of the early war period before or not long after the offical release of a black M34 sidecap in 1940. Many Panzerwaffe wanted a black version of the sidecap but had difficulty getting one so in some cases sourced their own example via a tailor or even in the odd case adding dye to field grey one. In lesser cases the tailor made example was purely one of preference for Panzerwaffe who could afford it or so desired.

To my eye the badges appear reapplied and I agree with Billbert that the eagle looks to be a nice "grey-type" early example but I have never seen an original cockade like that so would need a hands on to check that and my feeling at this stage is reproduction cockade.

Overall a tailor made Panzer sidecap in the style & cut typical plus distinctive to tailor made caps with badges probably post war applied. I would need a hands on inspection to be able to say more,

          Chris
