SS Officer M43 from my collection

I've had this one for quite a while but have never posted pictures of it. What are everybody's thoughts on it?

        John,

Are the buttons butterscotch or butter rum flavored?

No comments? I hope that is not a bad sign.

I have never seen buttons like those...I am smelling a possible fake here.

Is that not the type of button that one finds on GJR "Bergmutze" ?

The real question is if they are made of wood or composite material.

As well as being used on the Bergmutze these buttons do turn up in limited cases from time to time on M43's esp. those made from Italian materials or Italian made examples.

Do a search under "Bergmutze" and you will see what I mean.

Chris is absolutely right, such buttons would not necessarily mean a red flag...
                contrary! I like it!
However it does show wear areas (balding wool) all over...(sign of a cut up great coat?) or is that just
                the picture?
