    Original Schellenberg Visor?

Folks, does this look like an original Schellenberg visor? I am a little hinky about the sweat band...

Interesting cap. Can you lift up the sweatband and take a few shots?

Ben, it's not mine - it's currently being shilled online so no more pics. I was curious about the sweat band as I am not sure I have seen that on a Schelley before.

Oh right, in that case Don, we'll go on these pics.

I do believe it's an original Schellenberg and must be one of the last wartime made caps, despite the weird colour of the centre band which doesn't make much sense.
Schellenberg did carry on until the 1950's but for the life of me, I can't think of any post war cap in this configuration. Anyone else?

For us visor nerds, this is a very interesting cap. Last ditch is an over used and inaccurate term as there was a continuous effort to economise within the uniform manufacturing industry right throughout the war but I think this cap clearly shows how far along they came in the final years.

The materials used in this cap are of horrible quality but I think it's all part of the caps appeal.

Ben, it just looks so different from the "nice" Schellenbergs that are out there that along with the weird cap band color, I just wasn't sure. I can't find fault with the sweat diamond or logo, but everything else just seems a little "off".

I know what you mean about it looking "off" but all the low quality materials fit perfectly together for what I believe to be the timeframe of manufacture.

The visor is definitely an original Schellenberg but the cap band leads me to believe very early post war.

I see the shadow of the Dirty Bird on that Bundesarchiv photo, so it started life in the Wehrmacht. Nick, do you think it's postwar assembled (the cap in question, I mean)?

One more... Seller says band is either "really dark green or black". Still looks brown to me...
