Over at the USMF a member came up with a great way to see faint markings, he used the night vision mode on his cam corder and sometimes that mode is available on cameras too, great results..picks up markings you cant see anymore!!.....mike
Ben, I don't see anything on your pictures but I owned a M43 tunic, and some parts of the lining were also handmarked with size numbers etc. Could be the same as in your caps.
