It has an odd look, but maybe its just the direct sunlight. Is the oilcloth actually black? Any indications that it is a recovered black type? Any markings on the sweatband?

It is a very nice and even more rare original. The use of the feldgrau assualt berets was limited, but they were made and used. As to value; it would be of most value to someone who owns a loose assault gunner beret top, which is equally rare.
