Thanks Fred for the extra pictures, though they dont clarify the issue by much, as the grommets look original, which suggests the cap is as well, though I would not expect it to have a soutache and an RBNR stamp. Any opinions on this would be appreciated. Also, when was the upgrade done? Is that bullion braid of a type used during WWII? Chris calls it ersatz late war. Was the soutache added at the same time perhaps? The thread looks like that from the upgrade, not the original build, so that would not have happened after mid 42?
