Luftwaffe cap peak

Gentlemen,
I am considering purchase of a Luftwaffe peaked cap that I have only viewed online. Selller says underside of the peak is smooth, black in color. I am concerned that it may be a repro. Apologies for lack of photos.
Also, peak is NOT leather. Thanks in advance.
