Very nice and fairly rare insignia-skull appears dinged-can't comment on the visor

I can't comment of the insignia, As for the cap here are my questions. Hopefully you have this cap in hand.

            1. Not a fan of the visor material. It's not crosshatched vulcanfiber and its not leather nor pressed paper. Interesting for a "crusher" cap, to say the least.

            2. How is the buckram material held in place?

            3. Photo #2 shows two holes in the liner where an eagle would be, just an observation, may really mean nothing.

            4. Not a fan of the liner material.

            5. Is that piping hollow without a a center core?

            6. Is that velvet band narrow or what?

These are just after a quick observation, I hope that helps you.

I removed the eagle to look at the reverse and didn't place the prongs back through the original holes. Piping isn't hollow but that would have been weird. Not really sure how the buckram is attached but it is in front of the treated cardboard. Not sure what to make of the size of the velvet comment other than I am pretty sure that's not an abnormal feature but I defer to the experts. Thanks for your addition to the thread

No, I have not. The buckrum also does not look like the ones I have seen used as pasteboard in cap. There are a few other things I don't like on this cap. Looks like a woolly mammoth to me. Jacques

Hi Jacquest, I'm afraid I don't understand your "wooly mammoth" comment. Are you suggesting it's a bad cap? A rebuilt cap? A questionable cap?
If I am stuck with a lemon then I'd really like to know so that I may move on from here

Lately a lot of fake ss caps with this very woolly fabric has started to appear. I also don't like the liner fabric and pleating, the fabric below the cap cand and the general shape of the cap amongst others. Jacques PS The woolly mammoth was a furry elephant that became extinct.
