Many reference works and museums contain spurious examples; I would suspect that is the case here.

Easy to say, alot of the musuems get their collections from vets who want them to have it rather than try to make a buck. The beret I have shown is real there are several on display as well as on display at the max show with and without helmet.
I have a question is it acceptible to see synthetic fibers on wartime cloth?

would need to see more detailed pics of your beret but one thing is for sure the insignias on it are 100% fakes
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.
You had better send that beret over to me...its eagle is looking towards California instead of Germany. I will see if I can't turn the eagles head the right way for you.

It was looking, from Germany, to conquer California!

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.
Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.
Its amazing that I post a real beret and you post a fake one that you will not show at the MAX and they say yours is real and mines fake. Based on the oakleaves with in this case look almost identical. I guess they dont know you like I know you from the old days. Buts its amazing! Your eagle is facing the wrong way ooops!

I hate to tell you this...but your beret insignia is "one look" fake insignia to those that are familiar with it, and Bob Hritz's insignia are "one look" originals, again...to those that know this insignia. Even though the eagle on his is a variation with the head facing the other way...it is still obviously original. Yes...I do own original berets with original insignia.
Apparantly there were enough makers of Heer panzer insignia to allow for variations. Here are three eagles that I have saved. The second photo is of the world's worst panzer beret cover that suffered much damage.
